Performers 2008
Author: shelleyKeith Glass – Juno Award Winner
Vocally, Keith Glass struts his stuff here in a melting pot of musical styles, successfully blending some blues, bluegrass and country sounds, with touches of jazz, Cajun and rockabily…it all comes together in the mix, and you come away knowing that you’ve just been treated to one of the most exciting and innovative records in some time.
Tell Mama – She’s Right
Local band, Tell Mama is hosting this event for the third year in a row. Take a handful of Melissa Etheridge, stir in some Kathleen Edwards, add a smidgeon of Norah Jones, k.d. Lang and Jann Arden and you are starting to get an idea of the Tell Mama style.
The music can rock and it can swing, it can even get down and mellow or go seriously funk – whatever flavor Tell Mama’s sharing fans always keep coming back for more.
With recognition from the International Songwriting Competition and the Portland Songwriter’s Association Annual Song Contest, you’ve got to know that this group is going to deliver.
The perfect combination of engaging lyrics and insightful composition, Tell Mama has been performing to sold-out shows for six years and, now, is recording their premiere CD, “She’s Right” to celebrate their success and to give the fans what they have long been asking for – a few Tell Mama tunes to go.
“Rising from the ashes of the Suicide Kings, PUSH formed in 1999 at memorable jam where a vintage Fender Super Reverb was laid to rest. This keyboardless quartet has been pumping out blues and rock standards and lesser known hits for appreciative audiences thoughout Ottawa and the Valley”.
PUSH is Ed Ashton (bass, vocals), Dave Bissonnette (drums, vocals), Chris Karson (guitar, lead vocals) and Fraser Moffatt (guitar, vocals).
